City Preparation began in 2018
In the spring of 2018, the City of Lakewood participated in the Census 2020 Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) operation. LUCA provides a voluntary opportunity for designated representatives of state and local governments to review and comment on the addresses used to conduct the decennial census.
This opportunity allowed the city to look at the Lakewood addresses being used by Census Bureau and provide feedback about addresses that were not included on the Census list. As a result of this initiative, the City of Lakewood was able to get over 300 addresses added to the Census address list. That means an additional 300 homes that were not originally included on the list will now be counted.
