CITY OF LAKEWOOD – PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION OF PARKS & DIVISION OF POLICE
CUSTODIAN
The City of Lakewood is currently seeking a full-time Custodian for its Parks and Police divisions. This is a full-time AFSCME Bargaining Unit position with an hourly rate of $21.08. Normal working hours are 5:30am – 2:00pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must have the experience to maintain terrazzo floors, strip and wax all types of floors. Must be able to work from ladders and in small and confined spaces. Must have the ability to operate and maintain various types of custodial equipment. Must be able to work safely with and around various cleaning chemicals. Must have the physical ability to wash floors and carpets, scrub walls and wash windows; must be able to clean kitchens and bathrooms including appliances, fixtures and all surfaces; must be able to provide all custodial duties at multiple department, building and park locations; must possess the physical ability to lift heavy, bulky materials up to 50 pounds; must have the ability to set up and take down tables as needed; must be able to shovel snow; must have the ability to order supplies and monitor supply inventory; must be able to speak clearly and possess good communications skills; must possess patience and sensitivity toward all client populations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must have High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than eight (8) points.
- May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.
- Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination with drug screen and police background investigation.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement.
