Ward 2 Vacancy & Appointment Process
Lakewood City Council is seeking applicants for the Ward 2 council seat to be vacated by Council Vice President Jason Shachner. Councilmember Shachner will resign his Ward 2 Council seat effective August 5, 2024. The candidate appointed to this position will serve until December 31, 2025. In the November 2025 municipal election, voters will elect a candidate to serve the remaining two years of the Ward 2 Councilmember term. The appointed individual will be eligible to run in that election.
Qualifications
An applicant must be a registered voter of the city and a resident of the city for at least one year to qualify for consideration. Additionally, an applicant must be a resident of Ward 2 at the time of appointment.
Process
- Interested and qualified individuals may submit a cover letter, resume, and any other supporting materials in PDF format to the Clerk of Council at council@lakewoodoh.gov.
- Applications will be accepted until August 23, 2024.
- Interviews will be scheduled for Tuesday September 3, 2024 in a recorded open session of Committee of the Whole.
