Cindy Strebig is a small business owner, community activist, and concerned citizen. A union daughter, she has lived in Lakewood for 25 years and been a landlady for 23 years. As a part-time landlady and full-time volunteer, she works in partnership with her tenants to maintain properties and address housing concerns.
She is active with the League of Women Voters, the Lakewood Family YMCA and the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats. In 2021, she created the Lakewood Chapter of the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland Mary Warren Impact Scholarship for Lakewood High School seniors.
Scholarships are awarded to seniors that exhibit community service and an understanding of democracy.
As Vice President of Membership with the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats, she organizes membership meetings, participation with Pride in the CLE, and efforts to support and endorse equality candidates and issues. On the Community Advisory Board of the Lakewood Family YMCA, Cindy works to ensure that everyone can participate in swim lessons, summer camp, or silver sneakers, regardless of their ability to pay.
Her priorities include housing; physical, mental, and emotional health; safety for all Lakewood residents and strengthening block clubs.
Cindy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Management and a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education, both from Ohio University. Her interests include hiking with her wife, Kate, gardening, and supporting women’s sports.
