City Conducting Exam for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic Applicants

The Lakewood Civil Service Commission will be conducting an examination for Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakewood High School cafeteria, 14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio.

The first 100 properly completed and legible applications for examination along with a non-refundable fee of $30.00 (money order or cashier’s check only; NO personal checks or cash accepted) and required documents will be accepted. Applications will be available in the Department of Law, Office of Civil Service Lakewood City Hall, 12650 Detroit Avenue, M-F, between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or online at www.lakewoodoh.gov/firefighter-exam, beginning Monday, April 28^th, 2025. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 27^th, 2025, or upon which date the maximum properly completed applications have been accepted. Applicants must provide copies of High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a current Ohio Paramedic Certificate if you do not have a current Ohio Paramedic Certificate, you must provide a current Ohio Basic EMT Certificate and provide proof of current enrollment in Ohio Paramedic program (letter from school) upon application. At the time of appointment, you must file a current Tri-C Firefighter Physical Agility Test Certificate with the Chief of Fire with a completion time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds or less.

To be placed on the eligible list candidates must score 70% or higher on the written exam. For candidates that pass the exam with a minimum score of 70%, the City of Lakewood offers additional credit for Military Service, residency and for current employment with the City of Lakewood. Please see complete posting for acceptable documentation for additional credit. There will be NO review of the exam papers.

Salary: $62,484.71 plus benefits.
