Lakewood’s Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will hold the first Public Hearing associated with the City’s FY25 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Annual Action Plan on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 6pm in the Auditorium on the second floor of Lakewood City Hall (12650 Detroit Avenue).

The CAC reviews requests for federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding submitted by City departments and not-for-profit agencies then makes recommendations to Lakewood City Council regarding the allocation of these funds during the coming year.

Hearing topics include descriptions of the CDBG and ESG programs; preliminary estimates of the City’s FY25 federal funding awards; Lakewood’s citizen participation process with regard to federal funding; the City’s housing and non-housing community and economic development needs and goals; and initiation of Lakewood’s three-year (FY25-FY27) Low-Moderate Income Certification Period during which at least 70% of the City’s CDBG expenditures must directly benefit low-moderate income households.

The Citizens Advisory Committee will hear presentations from applicants for FY25 CDBG and ESG funding on August 21, August 28, and September 4, 2024, then conduct its 2nd FY25 Public Hearing on September 11, 2024. If necessary, the Committee will convene a third Public Hearing regarding Lakewood’s FY25 Annual Action Plan and FY25-FY29 Five-Year Consolidated Plan in Spring 2025 after HUD notifies the City regarding its actual FY25 federal funding awards.

All CAC meetings are properly noticed and open to the public. Citizen feedback received during the Comment Period at the conclusion of each hearing will be included in the City’s FY25 HUD Action Plan submission.
