“Safe Gun Storage Saves Lives” Information Session

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio is partnering with the City of Lakewood to present an information session, “Safe Gun Storage Saves Lives,” Thursday, Oct. 3, from 6:30 – 8 p.m., at the Cove Community Center, 12525 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107.

Attendees will hear from presenters who will share facts and data on firearms-related accidents, education on how to prevent gun-related tragedies, and demonstration of firearm lock and storage devices, and then will have the opportunity to speak with the presenters during the second half of the event.

The main points of the session include:

  • Educating the public about data and trends regarding firearms-related accidents and self-imposed harm with a focus on children and teens,
  • The connection between these tragedies and unsafe firearms storage practices,
  • The effects of these tragedies on individual families as well as the public,
  • A gun lock demonstration and distribution,
  • And steps to help prevent firearms-related tragedies by following and encouraging safe firearms storage practices.

Cable gun locks will be distributed to any attendee interested. No registration or sign-in is required.
