Update: We are out of trees. All of the trees we had available have been reserved. Stay tuned for information about our next Tree Giveaway.
The City of Lakewood’s Tree Advisory and Education Board (TAEB) seeks to partner with residential property owners in growing our shared tree canopy coverage from the current state of 23% to a sustainable 33%. To this end, the City has contracted with the Arbor Day Foundation Community Canopy Program to pilot a free tree giveaway for planting on private properties.
New for 2024, City of Lakewood residents are eligible to receive a free native tree for planting at home. The trees are container-grown in 3 to 5-gallon pots, and are 2 to 6 ft in height. They are small enough to easily transport and plant, yet large enough to get a good start towards establishing the tree on your property.
Whether you are an experienced tree planter or just getting started, take home a native shade tree for your yard. At this event, the TAEB will provide instruction on how to plant and grow your tree
WHEN: Saturday, April 27, 2024
TIME: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM to pick up reserved trees; trees not picked up will be given away at 12:00 PM on a first-come first-serve basis.
LOCATION: Bernice S. Pyke Park, 1300 block of St. Charles Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107
Our Tree Giveaway Program takes place this spring while supplies last. In less than 10 minutes, you can reserve your free tree (limit one per resident) by selecting a shade or ornamental species that fits your yard.
Thank you for helping to grow our city’s tree canopy!
