H2O Help to Others Youth Program

  • HOME ALONE – Safety course that fosters independence in children ages 9-12. It encourages safety preparation and conversations within families with a parent attendance requirement. The project is designed by high school leaders who develop a range of skills through their involvement in HOME ALONE.
  • Summer Camp – Four two-week sessions of summer camp serving 192 middle school youth each year. Campers are engaged in in a variety of volunteer projects and go to different service agencies across the Greater Cleveland area. They are closely mentored by skilled counselors in groups of six, fostering positive social connections and reflection on the work they share each day. Campers enjoy game time, team building activities, speakers, and philanthropy projects throughout their session.
  • Middle School program – Site-based extra-curricular offered at al local middle schools. Meetings include introductions to a topic, service projects, high school mentors, and game time.
  • High School Volunteer Program – H2O has a variety of volunteer opportunities for high school students to sign up for as their schedules allow. These offerings include H2O-coordinated fundraisers and events, service trips to area agencies, and recruitment for community events. H2O also offers committed roles for leadership development, such as middle school mentoring and HOME ALONE.

Lakewood Area Collaborative & Community Based Services

The Lakewood Area Collaborative-Community Based Services, located in the Cove Community Center provides free and optional community-based services to families with children under the age of 18 (or 21 with a disability) residing in the following neighborhoods:

  • Bay Village
  • Cleveland (44111 & 44135)
  • Fairview Park
  • Lakewood
  • Rocky River
  • Westlake

Juvenile Diversion

The goal of the City of Lakewood’s Juvenile Diversion Program is to work with juveniles/parents in Lakewood to prevent future delinquent behaviors and or unruly behaviors by juveniles. Juveniles will be redirected from the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court system through programming, supervision, and supports.

    H20, Help to Others, is a service-learning Program for high school and middle school Youth. It is a collaborative effort of:

    • City of Lakewood Department of Human Services
    • Lakewood City Schools
    • Our community Supporters and
    • The amazing youth of Lakewood.
    • Local and county wide agencies and Service organizations.
    • This program is dedicated to strengthening and enriching this community by engaging youth in LEARNING, LEADING, and SERVING. Youth are given the opportunity to be active contributors to their community while building and strengthening civic and social responsibility.

  • Juvenile Diversion+-

    The goal of the City of Lakewood’s Juvenile Diversion Program is to work with juveniles/parents in Lakewood to prevent future delinquent behaviors and or unruly behaviors by juveniles. Juveniles will be redirected from the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court system through programming, supervision, and supports. The first step in correcting these behaviors is for juveniles to recognize their actions are wrong. Participation in the program is voluntary, and contingent on the juvenile accepting responsibility for their actions for the delinquency or unruly charge.

    Q:       Is this the county? 

    A:       No. This is the City of Lakewood. All county related assistance including child support, food stamps, health insurance, job training, and emergency assistance, can be found by calling the Cuyahoga County Department of Jobs and Family Services at (216) 987-7000 or for concerns of child abuse and/or neglect please call the Cuyahoga County Children and Family Services at (216) 696-KIDS (5497). 

    Q:       Who do I call if I think a child is being abused? 

    A:       Please report all concerns of child abuse and neglect to Cuyahoga County Child and Family Services at (216) 696-KIDS (5437).

    Q:       I am a parent with children and I need assistance, who can help me? 

    A:       Please call the Division of Youth at (216) 529-6873 or email youth@lakewoodoh.net

    Q:       My child is in trouble with the police, who can I talk to?
