Housing License Applications Moving Online
July 02, 2015Here’s the link to the housing license applications.
Do you own a single-family or two-family home that you lease? If so, you probably already know that you’re required under the Lakewood housing code to renew your housing license each year. Starting this year you can complete your housing license online.
The application process can be completed using the Department of Building and Housing’s convenient on-line service, which can be found on the city’s website. Save a stamp and complete the application from the comfort of your own home computer or on the go with your mobile device.
“Landlords have been asking for an application that was easier to complete. We were listening,” said Michelle Nochta, the city’s community development program coordinator. “The user-friendly online housing license takes about five minutes to complete.”
The city has also installed a kiosk in the building department, located in the garden level of City Hall at 12650 Detroit Avenue, City staff will be available to assist property owners.
The city of Lakewood processes 2,200 one- and two-family family housing licenses each year. The online housing license will expedite processing time, and also improve customer service levels. Landlords maintain compliance with just a few key strokes.
The Building and Housing Department expects to launch a similar application and payment program for multi-family homes in time for 2016 renewals at the end of 2015.
