The City of Lakewood, Ohio is requesting proposals from qualified Ice Rink Management Companies to install, operate, and maintain an outdoor seasonal ice rink for public use. The seasonal ice rink is intended to be installed on the Kauffman Park tennis court area and operate between November and March. Kauffman park is centrally located in the city, surrounded by numerous businesses and restaurants – including the Main Branch of the Lakewood Public Library – all within walking distance along the Detroit Avenue commercial corridor. The park’s primary entrance is at the intersection of Arthur and Detroit Avenue and leads to over 60 municipal parking spaces that start along the edge of the court area and continue along the southern edge of the park.
The operator will be expected to achieve the following preliminary goals:
- Work closely with City to install and operate an appropriately-sized seasonal ice rink with supporting facilities and equipment during the intended timeframe – sustaining it through necessary staffing, maintenance, and cleaning of the court area.
- Provide first-class customer service for patrons at competitive & reasonable (admission, skate rental) rates.
- Work closely with City to provide appropriate operating hours in coordination with area businesses and community special events (i.e., Light-Up Lakewood).
