Marine Towers West Update
December 23, 2021UPDATE: Based on first responder initial assessment, there is currently no indication of any injuries from the Marine Towers West parking garage collapse this morning.
In an abundance of caution, the apartment building has been fully evacuated to ensure resident safety as a full evaluation of the site is being performed by safety forces and a structural engineer.
The City’s Human Services Department has made arrangements for emergency housing for all Marine Towers West residents in need, and Mayor George is coordinating response efforts with city personnel.
The City of Lakewood is grateful for our first responders as well as the assistance of the Ohio Region II Urban Search and Rescue Team and the Westshore Technical Rescue Team who are partnering with our personnel on scene.
All streets surrounding the site are now fully open to traffic, and no other buildings will need to be vacated.
The City of Lakewood will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
