Mayor George Seeking Applicants for Lakewood Boards & Commissions

The City of Lakewood is seeking volunteers ready to engage with the community and advise their local government.

Opportunities on the following Boards and Commissions are available:

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) meets monthly and reviews applications for variances to the zoning code. This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in zoning code and related issues to review a wide variety of projects. The Board receives applications for both residential and commercial properties and reviews the site plans, elevations, photographs and any other submitted materials.  The planning staff provides administrative comments for the board members and property history. The board members apply the test of  practical difficulty test to determine if a request will be granted.

The Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB)  meets quarterly and was established to serve in an advisory capacity for the purpose of collaborating with City officials regarding its public art policies and practices, promoting the City’s public art initiatives, and educating residents on the benefits of public art on public and private properties.
