Meet New Neighborhood Paramedic Ryan Birth
October 09, 2023Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan Birth was recently appointed to serve the community as the new Neighborhood Paramedic. Ryan has been serving the Lakewood community as part of the Lakewood Fire Department since August of 2010. His connection with Lakewood runs even deeper as he is also a Lakewood High School graduate. Ryan currently lives with his wife of 17 years and 3 children in Avon Lake.
The Neighborhood Paramedic Program was launched in August 2022 with support from the Healthy Lakewood Foundation, to incorporate a program into our Fire Department focused on proactive, preventative care and interventions. The program kicked off by focusing on fall prevention for senior citizens, using neighborhood paramedic visits to prevent trip-and-fall situations within residences.
This new role will provide Ryan with the opportunity to connect closer with the community and become even more a part of the fabric that makes Lakewood so great. Ryan looks forward to working closely with ALL members of the community to find out what is important to them and help build a safer and healthier Lakewood.
