March 14, 2018On Tuesday, March 13, Patrol Officer Ryan Summerville and Patrol Office Bryan McNeeley received the Life Saving Award from Police Chief Timothy J. Malley.

“It is with great pleasure that I concur with the recommendations of your supervisors to award each officer the Lakewood Police Department Life Saving Award.
On March 5th, 2018 at 2:53 A.M. the Lakewood Police Department responded with the Lakewood Fire Department to 12520 Arliss on the report of a building fire. Upon arrival Officers Summerville and McNeeley found a female that had broken through a window to escape the fire and suffered extremely serious cuts to her arms. Officer Summerville applied a tourniquet to her left arm and Officer McNeeley applied direct pressure to her right arm. Officer’s maintained first aid until the Paramedics arrived.
Reports indicate the victim had lacerated arteries and tendons and had to have them surgically repaired. Based on the observations of the fire personnel Officers Summerville and McNeeley were instrumental in saving this person’s life. Their actions exemplify what we do, protect the public. Both officers have represented themselves and the Lakewood Police Department extraordinarily and are well deserving of the Life Saving Award.”
