Riverside, Madison Intersection Closing for Two Weeks
November 19, 2015Starting on Monday, Nov. 23, the Madison and Riverside intersection will be closed for approximately two weeks (weather permitting) for sewer repair.
During recent repairs to an underground utility line, a 20-feet section of sanitary sewer pipe buckled underneath the intersection and needs to be excavated and replaced.
“This wasn’t planned, but it’s something that we need to address right away,” said city engineer Mark Papke. “We’re grateful for residents’ and motorists’ patience while this issue is resolved.”
Barricades and detour signs will be posted during the construction. Local traffic will utilize Daleview, Fries, and Larchmont/McKinley avenues as a detour route.
Truck traffic southbound will be detoured at Riverside/Detroit and Detroit/West Clifton to head east on Detroit to south on Warren/Alger to west on Lakewood Heights/North Marginal to west on Hilliard to Riverside.
Truck traffic northbound will be detoured at Riverside/Hilliard to head east on South Marginal/Ferndale to north on Alger/Warren to west on Detroit to Riverside.
