Storm Recovery Update: Cove Community Center Open Today

August 11, 2024

Cove Community Center will open again today, August 11, from 9 AM to 6 PM for residents to charge devices, access Wi-Fi, grab refreshments, and cool off.

Since last Tuesday’s storms, City of Lakewood safety forces and Human Services staff have continuously provided outreach and supplies to vulnerable residents including seniors and those in high-rise buildings.

Cove/Human Services staff and social workers have regularly visited senior communities, checked in with building management, and worked to provide food, water, and supplies to residents. Flyers were delivered to buildings promoting the Cove reception/cooling center.

Transportation to the Cove Community Center/Hayes Reception Center has been offered and provided to seniors and residents with mobility challenges.

LakewoodAlive has visited the high-rises along Lakewood’s Gold Coast to check with management to see what can be done to help residents. Yesterday, cases of water were delivered by the Lakewood Fire Department.

Multiple City departments continue to check in, monitor, and offer resources to those still without power, with medical needs, or otherwise at risk.

If you/a loved one needs assistance, please call Cove Community Center at (216) 521-1515. If it’s an emergency, call 911.
