Climate Action Plan

Overview

On May 1, 2023, the City of Lakewood adopted our Climate Action Plan. This plan is a guide for the city to reduce citywide emissions to zero by 2050, saving money through reduced energy costs and improving our residents’ quality of life.

The city’s creation process involved the employment of a consulting team which gathered public input through public meetings, a Decarbonization Advisory Group, and focus groups.

The Climate Action Plan outlines many measures to achieve this lofty goal, including:

• Increasing our urban tree canopy;
• Retrofitting current houses and buildings to use less energy;
• Making alternative transportation methods easier and more convenient to reduce reliance on single occupancy vehicle transportation.
