Lake-Clifton Connector

Project Overview

Beginning in 2026, Cuyahoga County, ODOT, and the Cities of Lakewood and Rocky River are partnering on the Lake Road-Clifton Boulevard Corridor Improvements Project. The section of roadway that stretches from Linda St. in Rocky River to Webb Rd. in Lakewood will see significant changes in configuration aimed at enhancing safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

This project is part of a broader regional effort to connect the cities of Lakewood and Rocky River, as well as the Cleveland Metroparks. It is the first of several similar neighborhood connections planned; other future projects will focus on the Detroit Road bridge and the Hilliard Boulevard Bridge.

Project Features

The new design of the roadway features the following improvements:

  • Reduction in vehicle lanes from four to two;
  • Addition of a separated shared-use path to replace the on-road buffered bike lanes currently in place;
  • A roundabout at the intersection of Lake Rd. and Clifton Blvd.;
  • Increased number of trees and green space;
  • Improved pedestrian crossings and Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFBs).
