Tree Planting Opportunities

Several programs are available to Lakewood residents to either provide trees at no cost or assist with tree purchases.

Request a Tree Lawn Planting

Tree lawns in Lakewood exist as part of the right-of-way, which is the City’s property. For that reason, tree lawn trees are only to be planted by the City of Lakewood’s Division of Forestry.

To request a tree planting in your property’s tree lawn, call (216) 529-6810 or email streets@lakewoodoh.gov.

Tree Giveaway Program

Beginning in 2024, the City of Lakewood has partnered with the Tree Advisory and Education Board and the Arbor Day Foundation to offer biannual tree giveaway programs. Through this program, a limited number of trees are made available to Lakewood residents at no cost for planting on private property. These trees cannot be planted in tree lawns.

Reservations for the Fall 2026 Tree Giveaway will open beginning at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 15 at www.arborday.org/lakewoodoh, while inventory lasts.

Residents who reserve a tree can pick them up at Bernice Pyke Park on October 3 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Members of the Tree Advisory and Education Board will be in attendance to offer planting demonstrations and answer questions.
